RALEIGH - The US National Science Foundation is to set up one of its first 'Regional Innovation Engines' at North Carolina State University where it will work on advancing the recycling of waste materials into new fibres for the textile sector.
The Engines are a key part of President Biden’s 'Investing in America' agenda. The NSCU-based programme, known as the Sustainable Textiles Innovation Engine, will initially receive up to $15 million for two years and then up to $160 million over the following 10 years.
