MINNEAPOLIS – US corporation Cargill, which has international business interests in various agricultural, food and finance products, has announced the acceleration of its target to eliminate crops derived from deforestation or land conversion from its supply chains.
Attempting to outperform its initial pledge of exclusively sourcing deforestation-free commodities from South America by 2030, the firm has now made public its intention to achieve this in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay by 2025.
The corporation, headquartered in the state of Minnesota, has also revealed it will be working with the World Resources Institute to monitor and verify land usage in order to meet this amended goal.
