LOS ANGELES - US biochemicals company Nature Coatings has raised $2.45 million in a seed funding round aimed at scaling its bio-based pigments and finishes which are derived from food waste.
Supported by Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, the oversubscribed funding round was led by investment firms Regeneration.VC and The 22 Fund, with participation from venture funds Safer Made and Portfolia.
DiCaprio commented: “Nature Coatings offers a bio-based, long term solution that can be translated across many industries contributing to the mission for a cleaner, more sustainable environment.
