MONTREAL - Gildan Activewear, the major global apparel and sock manufacturer, has announced that its 2030 near-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Underpinning a key facet of Gildan's 2022 Environmental Social and Governance strategy, the SBTi’s target validation team has classified Gildan’s Scope 1 and 2 target and has determined that it is in line with a well-below 2ºC trajectory. Worthy of note, however, is that the reduction target for Gildan's Scope 3 emissions, which relates to those generated from its supply chain, has only been set at 13.5% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.
