GENEVA – The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), which bills itself as the world’s leading sustainability initiative for cotton, will take a more local, farmer-centric approach, according to the new updates it has made to its Principles & Criteria (P&C) document.
Supported by robust requirements surrounding decent work and gender equality, and in addition to the inclusion of a new principle, smallholder livelihoods, the third version of its P&C will place stronger onus on driving impact and promoting wellbeing in farming communities.
