VANCOUVER – The apparel industry's sourcing of 'more sustainable' raw materials is continuing to rise but greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are also climbing, according to a new report from Textile Exchange.
The global non-profit's latest Material Change Insights report - released today - warns that with the sourcing of conventional raw materials still increasing, its climate change targets look increasingly challenging.
The report is based on data submitted by 424 companies – including brands, retailers, manufacturers and suppliers – through Textile Exchange’s Materials Benchmark for 2021.
