LONDON – The average British adult has 118 items of clothing in their wardrobes of which more than a quarter - 31 items - have not been worn for at least a year, according to a new report from the waste recycling charity WRAP.
With UK adults spending an estimated £4 billion (US$4.5bn) plus on clothes each month, WRAP says new business models, such as secondhand and rental, could significantly reduce environmental impact and save shoppers' money.
The two-part WRAP report, entitled 'Clothing Longevity and Circular Business Models Receptivity in the UK', examined the UK’s attitudes to clothing and openness to adopt new circular business models.
