JYVÄSKYLÄ – Sustainable fibre manufacturer Spinnova has received a €1.6 million (US$1.6m) grant from Business Finland, a government organisation for innovation funding and trade, to meet half of the cost of its research and development work until the end of 2024.
The project focuses on follow-up research to Spinnova's technology - which creates fibre from wood and waste - targeting new application areas and product segments such as composites and nonwovens.
It includes 'continuous natural filament development', which allows Spinnova to be used in new types of textile products, and the development of scalable environmentally friendly dope-dye technology.
