HORGEN - Materials science company Dow has announced the completion of a programme, in partnership with the ZDHC Foundation and German development agency GIZ, to develop more sustainable processes in Ethiopia's fashion industry .
The three year partnership was designed to support sustainable chemical and waste management best practices along the textile value chain through education, training and advisory programmes.
“Ethiopia has the potential to become one of the leading textile and apparel hubs in Africa. Alongside this growth, there are opportunities to improve chemical management and prevent water pollution,” said project leader Maimuma Hussein, of Dow Industrial Solutions.
