MEMPHIS – The US Cotton Trust Protocol is to head up a new cotton initiative across the country after receiving funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The Climate Smart Cotton Programme will set out to provide financial and technical support to cotton farmers across the states with the ambition of benefitting more than 1,000 growers and in turn producing more than four million bales of ‘climate smart cotton’ in the next five years.
Gary Adams, the protocol’s president, commented: “The US Climate Smart Cotton Program is an important step in providing the necessary resources needed for growers to learn, grow and explore new opportunities that will improve their environmental footprint.”
