LONDON - Sportswear giant Nike has launched a robot-augmented system designed to extend the life of trainers as a pilot project at its flagship Nike Town store in London.
The BILL (Bot Initiated Longevity Lab) system is designed to clean and repair shoes with selected customisations as part of Nike's bid to extend product life and reduce environmental impact.
“The thing is, maintaining old product is deeply personal. People will go to great lengths to care for their favourite shoes," said Noah Murphy-Reinhertz, sustainability lead, Nike NXT.
