EUROPE – Trials to test the viability of various textile-to-textile recycling systems for polyester waste are to get underway across Europe, according to the Accelerating Circularity initiative.
With support from brands, retailers, innovators and non-profits, Accelerating Circularity says its work will “completely align” with the European Commission’s 2030 Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, which envisions a sector where all textile products are “long-lived and recyclable”.
“Our goal with the textile-to-textile polyester trials is to demonstrate circular systems at scale so our participants will be able to really demonstrate the feasibility of their processes,” commented Karla Magruder, Accelerating Circularity’s founder and president.
