BRUSSELS - New rules on corporate sustainability reporting which aim to end greenwashing have been provisionally agreed by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.
If approved, larger companies will have to disclose more detailed information on their environmental, social and governance (ESG) plans and performance from January 2024.
The new rules are designed to address increasing concerns that companies are greenwashing - making inaccurate or unsubstantiated environmental and social claims to consumers and investors.
