MEMPHIS – The US Cotton Trust Protocol has introduced a new streamlined grower enrolment process for native farmers in a bid to boost its network’s numbers and the volume of ‘sustainable’ cotton sold on the market.
The organisation recently announced that grower participation for the 2021/22 crop had doubled since its pilot the previous year, which followed an extension made to the deadline for grower enrolment.
Gary Adams, president of the protocol, commented: “We thank the growers who helped double participation in 2021. As supply chain membership continues to increase, we need to collectively ensure there is enough participation in the programme to meet demand and that the US remains a leading producer of sustainable cotton to markets around the world.”
