AMSTERDAM - Leading brands including retail giants C&A and H&M are among signatories to a new multi-stakeholder partnership initiative to help Indian cotton producers transition to organic farming.

The 'Partnership Initiative Organic Cotton in India' has been launched by the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles (PST) and its strategic partner Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) to build a more fair, environmentally friendly, and economically viable organic cotton supply chain.

Ten brands and organisations have so far signed up. As well as C&A and H&M, they are fashion brand Esprit, workwear specialists Brands Fashion and HAKRO, German home textiles company Formesse, textile standard GOTS, German retailers s.Oliver and Tchibo, and the Fairtrade non-profit.
