BRANDE – Danish fashion retailer Bestseller has partnered with blockchain specialist TextileGenesis in a bid to make 25 million garments within its supply chain traceable by the end of the year.
The partnership will work through multiple phases, with the end goal of company-wide transparency, and has been forged in anticipation of impending EU laws which will require businesses to establish product-specific ‘digital passports’ encompassing environmental data.
“Through our collaboration with TextileGenesis, we can ensure transparency and validation for a significant part of our fibres and products. It feeds directly into our Fashion FWD strategy, and will not only affect Bestseller, but can lead the entire fashion industry in a more transparent and sustainable direction,” said Danique Lodewijks, senior project specialist in sustainability at Bestseller.
