COLOMBO - Garment factory owners in Sri Lanka have signed an agreement with trade unions in which they commit to work together to address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the industry.
The Joint Apparel Association Forum Sri Lanka (JAAF) and the Union Collective, representing three trade unions, signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) which also recognises workers rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
The agreement aims to ensure that business owners and employees work together to maintain vigilance on pandemic prevention, discuss issues of mutual interest and jointly participate in addressing grievances.
