STOCKHOLM – Swedish textile recycler Renewcell has signed multi-year purchasing agreements with three European textile sorters to ensure it has ample feedstock ahead of its move to a new, bigger manufacturing facility next year.
Renewcell is expected to move from its site in Kristinehamn to Sundsvall in the first half of 2022, and claims it will be capable of producing up to 60,000 tonnes of recycled textile per annum.
“We are proud to contribute to creating a circular economy for textiles within Europe together with SOEX, Texaid and Sysav. Our joint effort to scale up textile recycling is crucial for the EU to achieve the goals set for 2025,” noted Martin Stenfors, Renewcell’s chief operating officer.
