NEW YORK — Fashion company Ralph Lauren and materials science leader Dow have followed through on their promise to share a new sustainable cotton dyeing system with industry rivals.
The two companies collaborated on the new Ecofast Pure system which claims to halve water use during dyeing, while reducing the use of process chemicals by 90 per cent, dyes by 50 per cent and energy by 40 per cent.
They have now jointly launched a manual to open-source the dyeing process to encourage wider adoption in the textile industry and help standardise a more sustainable cotton dyeing system.
