ARKANSAS – US retail giant Walmart is committing to achieve net zero carbon emissions in its global operations by 2040 - without the need for carbon offsetting.
The pledge is made in the company's new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report which also contains promises to reduce the use of virgin plastic, promote circularity and protect ancient and endangered forests.
On mitigating climate change, Walmart says it will meet its ambitious goal by harvesting enough wind, solar and other energy sources to power all of its facilities with 100 per cent renewable energy by 2035.
