GLOBAL - Four leading textile recycling industry bodies have linked up to "dispel myths" that much of the secondhand clothing exported to developing countries ends up being dumped in landfill.
The Textile Recycling Association, Bureau of International Recycling, European Recycling Industries Confederation, and Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART) insist that negative media reports on their industry are misleading.
"The truth is that the used clothing industry is gaining momentum with tremendous environmental, social, and economic benefits," they say in a joint statement.
