LONDON - The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has updated its minimum requirement for corporate climate action to the more ambitious 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement.
Previously companies were expected to at least set targets in line with limiting climate change to 'well below 2°C' when compared to pre-industrial levels but they will now be required to up their game.
Lila Karbassi, the SBTi’s board chair and chief of programmes at UN Global Compact, said: “The SBTi has become the de facto standard for businesses to set credible targets to address the climate crisis.
