PHNOM PENH – A trade union in Cambodia has told local reporters that it expects the country’s garment sector to be fully operational by early next year.
Pav Sina, president of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers, told Khmer Times that this is dependant on the success of the sector’s vaccination scheme, that’s expected to have inoculated more than half a million workers by the end of the month.
Research published by the UN in Cambodia last week highlighted that with lingering COVID-19 concerns, garment workers are feeling the socio-economic effects of factory closures and subdued orders.
