HUDDERSFIELD – The University of Huddersfield, in England, has become the latest signatory to WRAP’s Textiles 2030 initiative, joining brands, academic institutes and non-profits in working towards a more sustainable fashion industry.
WRAP describes Textiles 2030 as the world’s most ambitious ten-year environmental programme for clothing and textiles, with targets of halving carbon emissions and reducing the aggregate water footprint of new products by 30 per cent.
“Both the University’s Department of Fashion and Textiles, and the Technical Textiles Research Centre will play an important role in shaping this voluntary agreement,” said Professor Parik Goswami, who has been appointed to Textiles 2030’s advisory board.
