LOS ANGELES - Materials science company Recover is aiming to increase its production of recycled cotton to 200,000 metric tons per year by 2025 following "significant" backing by the STORY3 Capital investment firm.

Both companies have declined to reveal the size of the investment but claim it will be sufficient to reach their target and meet demand from the global fashion industry.

Recover recycles industrial, pre-consumer and post-consumer cotton waste to reduce textile landfill waste and the need for virgin cotton. Its low impact ColorBlend system also claims to create unique colours without the use of water or chemicals.
