KOBE – Sportswear brand Asics has become the first Japanese company to join the Fashion Pact, a global environmental initiative which challenges signatories to help mitigate climate change, restore biodiversity and protect the oceans.
Asics joins more than 60 fashion industry firms in aligning with the ambitions of the Pact, launched at last year’s G7 Summit in Biarritz, France.
“Since our founding in 1949, our purpose has been to help people achieve a sound mind in a sound body. In order for people to achieve that, we need a sustainable earth,” said Yasuhito Hirota, Asics’ COO and president. “To further expand our collective action on climate change, biodiversity and ocean ecology, we would like to be part of the Fashion Pact to drive transformation in our industry through collaboration.”
