GENEVA – The COVID-19 pandemic has forced global wages down - particularly for women and low-paid workers - according to a new report from the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The ILO's Global Wage Report 2020/21 found that wages fell - or grew more slowly - during the first six months of 2020 in the two-thirds of countries for which official data was available.
It said that women had been disproportionately affected and that the crisis was likely to inflict further massive downward pressure on wages in the near future.
