LONDON – Sustainable sourcing platform SupplyCompass has forged a new partnership with The Woolmark Company, and says the pair are “working together to set up trusted wool supply chains that will enable brands to launch new wool collections, and manage the full product development and production process”.
Wool growers which are currently members of The Wool Company not-for-profit will need to undergo a separate on-boarding process to be registered as a viable manufacturing partner through this programme.
The onus now then will be on executing digital assessments of wool growers and textile mills to ensure they qualify. Criteria will span each factory’s operational set-up, labour policies, codes of conduct, ‘sustainable’ practices and environmental initiatives.
