MADHYA PRADESH - A new project has been launched to make quality, affordable non-GMO seed accessible to Indian farmers wanting to grow organic cotton.
The Organic and Fairtrade Cotton Secretariat (OFCS) and 11 partners across government, the private sector, research institutions and NGOs are behind the scheme.
Initially focused on the state of Madhya Pradesh, which produces a quarter of the world's organic cotton, it has already set up a centre of excellence and is now developing a seed development framework.
