SAN FRANCISCO - Sustainability in fashion will be at risk in a post-pandemic world according to a new report which calls for a phased rebuilding of the industry, elevating the role of social and environmental commitments.
Entitled 'Weaving a Better Future: Rebuilding a More Sustainable Fashion Industry After COVID-19', the report is the joint work of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and Higg Co, the technology company behind the Higg Index.
The 12-page report paints a bleak picture of the post crisis world facing the fashion industry, noting that fashion and luxury are the most negatively impacted of all consumer goods and services, after travel and tourism.
