LONDON – Animal rights campaign group PETA US has purchased stock in brands including Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Urban Outfitters and Guess as it urges all to ban wool, mohair and cashmere from their clothing lines.

PETA exposés have lifted the lid on animal cruelty in South Africa’s mohair and both China and Mongolia’s cashmere industries, unearthing cases of brutal killings.

The animal rights organisation routinely buys a minimal number of shares in fashion firms to enforce their will during annual member meetings in the hope businesses will cut down or even ban on their use of animal-based products.
