BERN - The OceanSafe sustainable textile manufacturer has introduced a new recyclable fabric, intended for curtains and other home applications, which is designed to help eliminate the microplastic shedding associated with polyester-based fibres.
The OceanSafe Gold Cradle to Cradle Certified Fabric is made from a blend of organic cotton, hemp, linen, and a ‘biodegradable co-polyester’, according to company founder Manuel Schweizer.
The fabric, which achieved a platinum performance rating for material health under the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard, is designed to move safely through the production and use cycles without the risk of microplastic abrasion. It can also be recycled at the end of its useful life.
