NEW YORK - A new apparel industry collaborative project has been launched today in a bid to accelerate the move from a linear to a circular textile industry.
Called Accelerating Circularity, it is being funded by leading brands and retailers including the Walmart Foundation, Gap Inc., Target and the VF Corporation.
It aims to help the industry move from a 'take, make, waste' system to a circular one to reduce the 15 million tons of textile waste generated annually in the US alone, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
