CORNWALL – Cold water surf brand Finisterre has developed the world’s first recyclable wetsuits in collaboration with both the University of Exeter and Innovate UK’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership.
The team eliminated both the wetsuit’s outer and inner fabrics, relying solely on standard neoprene rubber to yield an all-in-one garment that, though not yet as insulating as market alternatives, provides a solution to the 380 tonnes of discarded wetsuits sent to landfill each year in the UK.
