VICTORIA – Deakin University’s Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM), textile technology firm Xefco and engineering equipment provider Proficiency Contracting have collaborated on a project through which they’ll look to accelerate the commercial viability of an atmospheric plasma textile coating system developed to improve the durability of a finish, while reducing energy, water and chemical consumption.
Supported by the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (IMCRC) with investment to the sum of US$3.4 million, the project has been introduced to boost Australia’s capability in the manufacture of functional textiles.
