SAN FRANCISCO – In conjunction with Earth Day, clothing company Gap has announced new sustainability commitments for its retailers Banana Republic and Old Navy, saying it hopes to accelerate the company’s use of ‘sustainable’ materials in its apparel production and reduce the environmental impacts of its product manufacturing.

Banana Republic has committed to sourcing 100 per cent of its cotton sustainably by 2023, whilst Old Navy has targeted the same goal by 2022. Both will be sourced primarily through the Better Cotton Initiative, but also through verified responsibly-grown and recycled cotton producers.
