WOOLACOMBE – UK-based not-for-profit organisation Origin has committed to re-invest 100 per cent of its profits into the African communities from which the fabrics for its clothing originate.
The NGO makes organic cotton sweatshirts and t-shirts, sourcing from regions such as Mopti in Mali, Brikama in The Gambia and the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia. The profits then are invested in projects such as remote sanitation, skills training and medical care, hoping to aid development in Sub-Saharan Africa, which it says is an “under-diagnosed ticking time bomb.”
