BERLIN – Online fashion retailer Zalando has outlined its goal to become a leading online destination for ‘sustainable’ fashion in Europe by 2020 with plans to up its sourcing of Better Cotton and deepen its engagement with the Higg Index.
“As we look ahead to the next ten years, we know that sustainability will be an even more important driver of our future business success,” says Ruben Ritter, the company’s co-CEO.
Improving environmental best practise in Zalando’s supply chain is now a major focus for the business and is one of four areas that are now being reported transparently for the first time.
However, although progress is being made, it’s also clear that Zalando has more work to do when it comes to its meeting its own sustainability goals.
