DELAWARE – Better Buying has released its second report to explore the textile industry’s buying practices, highlighting a growing trend of suppliers experiencing heightened financial pressure from buyers.
The report has found significant regional differences – particularly between North America and European markets – exhibited amongst the brands, retailers and suppliers included in the study.
Better Buying has also deduced that the higher levels of pressure brands or retailers place on cost negotiations, the more likely the final price agreed does not cover all the cost – a highly worrying state of affairs for many within the supply chain.
This comes after the launch, earlier this year, of the Better Buying Purchasing Practices Index (BBPPI) and the organisation’s inaugural benchmark report, designed to support industrywide efforts to improve purchasing practices.
