ZURICH – Oeko-Tex has updated its STeP environmental certification which helps manufacturing facilities to demonstrate sustainable textile production. Among other changes, the STeP list of excluded harmful substances for textile production (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List or MRSL) has been updated to comply with the requirements of the ZDHC initiative. This will mean production facilities certified in accordance with STeP already meet the ZDHC specifications with regard to the use of specific process chemicals that are to be removed from textile production by 2020.
