CHITTAGONG - Marcia Bernicat, the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, has said the US and other governments, as well as apparel brands and retailers have an important role to play in helping to strengthen the garment sector of Bangladesh by ensuring worker rights and safety. Bernicat was talking this week at the Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Exposition which is exploring how Bangladesh can achieve its vision of $50 billion in exports for its ready-made garment sector by 2021.
