Forced labour remains an issue in cotton - and not just in China's Xinjiang region. This has implications for the rollout of human rights due diligence (HRDD) requirements and for ethical sourcing.

Anti-Slavery International recently alerted us to concerns from ongoing monitoring of labour problems in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. One is an old-fashioned, state-led problem. The other results from incomplete reforms and backsliding in a not fully reformed market.
