TOKYO - Researchers in Japan say they have developed a simple way to turn PET in waste textiles, and other products, back into virgin quality material – using an iron-based catalyst and ethanol.

Significantly, the method is selective which means that it could potentially be used to recycle PET which has been blended with other fibres or plastics.
