WASHINGTON DC – The National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) trade body is backing a call to protect the US textile and apparel industry from the "predatory trade practices" of Chinese companies like Shein and Temu.
A bipartisan group of senators is urging President Joe Biden to substantially step up enforcement and develop a strategic plan to protect the domestic industry.
Shein and Temu exploit a loophole to evade the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act (UFLPA) under which imports from the Xinjiang region of China are banned on the presumption they were made with forced labour.
