BRUSSELS - The European Fashion Alliance (EFA) has published a position paper on the European Union's (EU) proposed Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) which aims to make products last longer and be easier to repair and recycle.
EFA is an alliance of international fashion and textile organisations, including Fashion Council Germany, the British Fashion Council, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, which works to drive change in the sector.
It says it supports the objectives of the EU's ecodesign proposals but urges the EU to recognise the creative nature of the fashion industry and its ability to promote new business models to support reduction of volumes and drive circularity.
