SAN FRANCISCO – The AFIRM Group has launched in-depth new guidance on the phase-out of PFAS chemicals in the global clothing and footwear supply chains.
A new 14-page document has been published that includes a harmonised implementation and verification approach to rid so-called ‘forever chemicals’ from textiles and footwear based on supply chain communication, documentation, and laboratory analytical testing.
The AFIRM group (Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management), says the guidelines – which also address cross-contamination – is aimed at apparel brands, manufacturers, and suppliers of raw materials and chemicals to align on a common approach and definition for effective PFAS phaseout.
