DELHI - An Indian company has been awarded a 13.8 million Indian rupee (US$170,000) government grant towards its plan to transform agricultural hemp waste into textile fibres.
Sahi Fab's bid to turn farm waste, including industrial hemp but also flax and nettles, into textiles is being supported by the Technology Development Board (TDB), part of India's Department of Science and Technology.
It's part of an Indian programme designed to reduce waste while at the same time creating new wealth streams through technological innovations.
