VANCOUVER – Environmental non-profit Canopy has revealed that Austrian fibre manufacturer Lenzing has topped its 2022 Hot Button rankings of the sustainability of the world's viscose producers.
Canopy evaluates the world’s 34 largest producers of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) on their work to protect ancient and endangered forests and to transition to the use of 'next gen' raw materials for the annual rankings.
In 2022, an unprecedented six producers earned the top ranking of dark green shirts, up from just two last year. Lenzing topped the list with 32 buttons, Aditya Birla was just behind with 31.5, while Tangshan Sanyou, Eastman, Jilin and Xinxiang Chemical Fiber Co Ltd (Bailu Group) all scored 30.
