MANCHESTER – The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has outlined plans to analyse the composition of textile waste currently being disposed of via residual bins in the English region.
A new report from the organisation indicates that the issue of textile waste being sent to landfill as a result of improper disposal is a growing issue and one that has “significant environmental impacts”.
Waste analysis will inform the authority’s five-year environment plan and help identify what infrastructural changes, if any, are required to minimise textile waste levels at a time when the fashion sector continues to grow.
