NEW YORK – The Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, has signed off on new legislation that aims to support local natural fibre producers whilst promoting innovation and the state’s “sustainable development”.
The New York Textiles Act, as it’s been called, will introduce various economic development programmes that will benefit plant- and animal-fibre producers and encourage businesses to invest in local farmers and manufacturers.
Governor Hochul commented: “I am proud to sign this legislation, which will support New York farmers and lay the foundation for expanding the burgeoning textile industries that call this state home, helping spur economic growth for decades to come.”
